Exposure: Manual
How I Got This Shot: Shot @ 5:26:04am which is ~29 minutes prior to sunrise of 5:55am. This image is a crop to 3×1 ratio to eliminate the foreground trees and undergrowth surrounding the overlook. The location is about 40 minutes from hotel so you must rise very early. Shot from Tripod and 2 second timer release. Obviously the 2 second requires a solid tripod and either timer or cable release to avoid shake. Yes even pressing the button on a tripod can cause camera movement. This especially true with a 5DSR (50 megapixels and NO low pass filter).
The title is “Blue Ridges…DUH!” I enjoy sarcasm when naming images.
