Location: Price Lake, at Milepost 296.7 on the Blue Ridge Parkway in the High Country of North Carolina near Boone and Blowing Rock.

Price Lake is a part of Julian Price Memorial Park, a 4,200-acre area of rolling mountain land on the central section of the Parkway. It has a campground and picnic area, as well as several of the Parkway’s best trails.

How I Got This Shot: In order to get this shot the milky way had to be visible to the naked eye to line up the shot. Luckily this night it was. I used a headlamp to make sure it was focused on the tree and then using a tripod I took a long exposure.
