The Linville Gorge Wilderness, in the mountains of Western North Carolina, is part of the Pisgah National Forest. The gorge is formed by the Jonas Ridge on the east and Linville Mountain on the west and is bisected by the Linville River which drops 2,000 feet into the valleys below. The terrain is steep and rugged with numerous rock formations. It is covered by dense hardwood/pine forest and a wide variety of smaller trees and other plants. Recreation opportunities include hiking backpacking, rock climbing, fishing and hunting.

How I Got This Shot: We hiked down to the bottom of the Babel Tower trail after work one day and practically had the place to ourselves. There is something to be said for not having any interference or distractions and having all of the time you need to setup your shot. It was a wonderful afternoon although we did end up having to hike out in the dark.

How I Got This Shot: After hiking down to the bottom of the gorge on the Babel Tower trail, we found this little creek flowing down the gorge into Linville River. It was much of a flow but we set the tripod up and took this long exposure shot.
