Photo by: Deborah Scannell Photography, Asheville Fine Art & Landscape Photographer

“Lush Sunset In June” was captured from Milepost 405 near View Hominy Valley Overlook. I carefully lined up the little bit of colorful flower in the foreground to be in line with the setting sun. I used the rule of thirds to frame my shot in include 2/3 of the foreground to 1/3 of sky! In the composition the foreground was more interesting and captured the last bit of sun was important to include!

Camera: Canon 5DMKII
Lens: 24-104 f4L IS USM
Focal Length: 24mm
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/6 sec
Aperture: f/20
Filters: none
Exposure: AV
How I Got This Shot: I noticed that I had a bit of colorful flowers in the foreground. I carefully lined up the shot so that my setting sun was lining up with the flowers and I made sure I included very little of the sky and more of the foreground. I reduced the legs on my tripod so that I was sitting on the ground. I wanted the perspective of being low and knew that the sun would backlight the flowers and illuminate them of I positioned the frame just right! This image was one shot and processed in Lightroom. Next time you are out shooting a landscape try to gain a new perspective and try shooting low.
