Here Comes the Sun

There’s nothing that lifts one’s spirits like witnessing a sunrise down in the mountains. Such was the case on this mid summer morning down in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina a few years back. I can almost feel the cool mountain breeze in my face and the smell of my morning coffee by my side every time I look back on this image…. a memorable morning spent at the Buck Spring Gap Overlook on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Camera: Nikon D-90
Lens: Nikon 18-105mm f/3.5-5.6 VR.100
Focal Length: 105mm
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/45
Aperture: F/11
Filters: none
Exposure: Manual
How I Got This Shot: The Buck Spring Gap Overlook, right next to Mt. Pisgah, has some really nice eastward views of the Blue Ridge Mountains, I had the camera set up on a tripod and had just finished taking a few shots of the predawn color, when the sun started to rise above the mountains. I zoomed in and focused on the sun to come up with this final image. I cropped it as a pano as the sky really didn’t have that much going on and I wanted to focus the viewer’s attention on the sun and mountain ridges.
