How I Got This Shot
This image was taken right beside the road along the Parkway near entrance to Mt. Mitchell. I wanted to use a long exposure to smooth out the clouds that were rolling down the Black Mountain Range. I used my 3 stop Grad ND filter as a regular ND filter here, I slid it all the way down in the holder to have the dark part completely cover the lens then I used a 2 stop Grad ND filter to control the highlights in the sky. I also stopped my lens down to f/22 and dropped my ISO speed to 50 to get a 6 second exposure. A sturdy tripod and cable release were also key factors in getting a good clean image.
