How I Got This Shot: I was hoping to find a great spot to watch the sunrise, and I was lucky to stop at this overlook just a few minutes before the sun rose over the mountains. As often the case, the most brilliant colors are just before the sunrise. Clouds always created interest and color, so I focused more on the sky – plus the valley fog is a bonus.

How I Got This Shot: I found the brightest leaves and position by tripod downstream a bit. Luckily, clouds covered the sun for more even lighting. Since it’s a short hike from the Parkway parking area, Lower Falls is a great waterfall to visit often. You can safely reach the base and no life-threatening heroics are necessary to capture beautiful images.
