How I Got This Shot: The afternoon clouds and winds promised to deliver a truly spectacular sunset. I headed over to the parkway to find an overlook high enough to give me a good view of the mountains. I arrived about an hour before sunset and setup my tripod to ensure maximum stability. I wanted to capture the sun as well as the mountain silhouettes so I used a slow shutter and a neutral density filter to help maximize the dynamic range of the view. I also used a cable release to further reduce any movement or shake of the camera.
