Looking Glass Falls in Snow

by J. Scott Graham

"Looking Glass Falls in Snow" by J. Scott Graham

Date Taken: 01/24/2016
Location: Looking Glass Falls, Blue Ridge Parkway Milepost 411

Exiting onto Hwy 276 near milepost 411 leads down through the Pisgah National Forest to Looking Glass Falls. This photograph was taken January 24 after winter storm Jonas dumped 12 inches of snow and temperatures plunged to 5 degrees. Increased water levels and high winds combined to create a fierce spray from the falling water that coated cliffs surrounding the falls in thick layers of ice.
