Little Pisgah Ridge

by Derek Diluzio Photography

"Little Pisgah Ridge" by Derek Diluzio Photography

Location: United States
A crisp fall morning next to Little Pisgah Ridge tunnel on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Camera: Canon 1DX
Lens: 16-35mm
Focal Length: 17mm
ISO: 125
Shutter: .3
Aperture: 16
Filters: Circular Polarizer
Exposure: Aperture Priority
How I Got This Shot: I wanted to achieve a ‘sunstar’ look in this particular image. As general rule, using a small aperture will create this (f/16). I used a tripod and shutter release to eliminate camera shake. I consciously included the edge of the road cut in the foreground to create some extra depth to the image. It also illustrates how cold the morning was. My favorite compositional element of the image is the leading line the ridge creates in the frame. Enjoy!
