How I Got This Shot: Just under 2 mile hike and well worth it. I saw a photo in Kevin Adams’ book “North Carolina Waterfalls.” I started hiking at sunrise to beat the sun. A low ISO and neutral density filter are required to keep exposure times long in daylight. Being alone at this spot for an hour was amazing.

How I Got This Shot: We caught this shot in between several storms that were blowing through the area. We ran up the stairs to the Falls and fortunately were the only ones there despite it being a holiday (the rain probably had something to do with it). The rain left everything nice and wet which gave a nice shine to everything.

How I Got This Shot: Getting to English Falls is a bit of a challenge but once we were there we had the place to ourselves (probably because it is so difficult to get it). It is steep and the river is flowing strong down the mountain so I carefully setup the tripod in a safe spot, framed the shot, and they shot a bunch of bracketed exposures. The sun was shining bright on this day so it was difficult to get good lighting. I ultimately took the best exposures and HDR’ed them on Lightroom to produce the picture shown.

How I Got This Shot: After hiking down to the bottom of the gorge on the Babel Tower trail, we found this little creek flowing down the gorge into Linville River. It was much of a flow but we set the tripod up and took this long exposure shot.
