Blue Ridge Parkway, at Stack Rock Creek

by Ed Fuhr Photography

"Blue Ridge Parkway, at Stack Rock Creek" by Ed Fuhr Photography

Location: Blue Ridge Parkway at Stack Rock Creek
On Sunday October 20, the setting sun brought a beautiful glow to this curving stretch of the Parkway. For just a few miles through this part of the Drive, all of the trees were peaking. This image, for me, reflects the essence of one of the most beautiful Fall drives anywhere.

Camera: Canon EOS 5d Mark III
Lens: Canon 24-70 L
Focal Length: 70mm
ISO: 800
Shutter: 1/250
Aperture: F10
Filters: Polarizer
Exposure: Manual
How I Got This Shot: This was shot from the east side of the BRP looking south. I always look for stretches of roadway that have S-shaped curves that will allow the viewer’s eye to move through the image. The challenge is to find those places that also have great color and light. On Sunday, this was the best stretch I saw for over 150 miles where all of those elements came together.
