Fields at Moses Cone

by The Art of Victor Ellison

"Fields at Moses Cone" by Victor Ellison Fine Art Photography

Location: Moses H. Cone Memorial Park, Flat Top Tower Trail
A setting sun sets the grassy fields at Moses H. Cone Memorial Park ablaze while plunging the road into an icy shadow.

Camera: Nikon D7100
Lens: Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8
Focal Length: 11mm
ISO: 100
Shutter: 1/6
Aperture: 16
Filters: Marumi Super DHG Circular Polarizer 77mm
Exposure: Manual
How I Got This Shot: I took this photo about 10 minutes before sunset to get the rich, golden light. I thought it was interesting that the warm, tall grass projected a cold shadow the length of the trail. I used the trail to lead the eye through the middle of the photo to changing sky. I used my trusty Marumi Polarizer to make the sky and colors pop. Standing 90 degrees to the sun made for a wonderful effect. Because I was on a tripod and the wind was calm, I did not mind the slow shutter speed.
