Mists below Linville Cove at Yonahlossee Overlook, Milepost 304
Once the sun was up, I spotted quite a few great scenes of mist still nestled among the ridge and valleys below the Linville Cove, just past the viaduct.
Looking Glass Falls in Pisgah National Forest
I arrived here early in the morning time before the crowd come in order to have this place to myself and to capture my shots in peace, and I added the big log into the frame as a foreground element in which I believe made it more interesting.

Looking Glass Falls is one of North Carolina’s most popular waterfalls because of its large size and ease of access. A classic waterfall beauty, it features a 60-ft spilling waterfall cascading in a single picturesque drop.
Dutchman’s Breeches
In three decades of shooting the Blue Ridge Parkway, I’ve never photographed Dutchman’s Breeches because they have always eluded me. Driving by a random cove, I stopped to investigate some white trillium, but spotted these just a few yards away.
Sunrise at Ridge Junction Overlook, Milepost 355
This was my first real sunrise on the Parkway. The sun appeared red at first, but seemed to break through the top of the clouds at the end. ~ Ridge Junction Overlook is on the Blue Ridge Parkway near Asheville, North Carolina and Mount Mitchell State Park.
