UPDATE 9/13/13: See our Blue Ridge Parkway Fall Colors Tracker which we will update each Thursday through the fall.
Several good signs are pointing toward a superb Autumn. Blue Ridge Parkway Fall colors are expected to be vibrant and plentiful berries are expected.
The Charlotte Observer cites a source with the National Weather Service that Fall 2013 has the makings for vibrant color so far. Lots of rain during the growing season is one key ingredient along with a cool, sunny, dry autumn. We have certainly had rain this summer. Downpours have caused a huge crack to shut down a 20-mile section of the Parkway north of Asheville. There is hope that one lane of that stretch will be open for the Fall.
We’ll keep our fingers crossed for the next couple of months.
The Times News of Hendersonville is reporting that both blueberries and blackberries are having a bumper year at Graveyard Fields. Keep in mind that there will be renovations to many of the facilities at Graveyard Fields starting in November. Parking and access will be limited at that time.
